SALT와 SIA(Students in Action)가 주최·주관한 제3회 SIA 월드 컴피티션(2026 SIA World Competition)이 지난 27일(목) 오후 1시, 코리아디자인센터 컨벤션홀에서 열렸다.

Korean and Mongolian Students Showcase SDG Action at 2026 SIA World Competition

Students from seven schools present projects addressing environmental, educational and social issues

SALT’s YOUnite named the 2026 SIA World Champion

Students from South Korea and Mongolia presented the results of youth-led projects addressing global and community challenges at the third SIA World Competition.

Organized by SALT and Students in Action (SIA), the 2026 SIA World Competition was held on Aug. 27 at the Korea Design Center Convention Hall in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

Students from seven schools took part in the event. The participating institutions were SALT from South Korea and six Mongolian schools: Mongol Aspiration International School, Orkhon Khasu School, Orchlon International School, School No. 130, Tomunjin Alternative School and Tsonjin Cyber School.

The students explored issues linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change, environmental protection, educational inequality, health, social disparities, vulnerable communities and cultural diversity.

Rather than focusing solely on ideas or English-language presentation skills, the competition evaluated how students identified problems, conducted research, developed solutions, implemented their plans and measured their social impact.

Participants used videos, music, visual materials, performances, storytelling and props to explain their projects and demonstrate their potential for long-term sustainability.

Entries in the Sustainable Impact Project category were assessed in nine areas: problem and impact, goals, research, solution, implementation, creativity, presentation, project proposal and promotional video.

The judging panel consisted of Yongdoo Kim, Sanggyu Jung, Esther Lee and so on.

YOUnite, representing SALT, won first place and received the 2026 SIA World Champion Award. ATech finished second and earned the 2026 Global Impact Excellence Award.

In the Cultural Performance and Art category, Eternal Flame received the 2026 SIA World Cultural Heritage Champion award.

SIA said it aims to develop the competition into a sustainable international youth network through which student-led projects can expand from individual schools to communities and countries.
